After a whirlwind preseason full of contests with several Major League Soccer clubs, Louisville City FC is looking forward to one final test against an old rival before launching its 2021 campaign.
The trial comes against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, a familiar foe in the USL Championship Eastern Conference and who LouCity edged out in the 2020 quarterfinals on its way to a sixth straight Eastern Conference Final.
Saturday’s game – which is set for a 3 p.m. ET kickoff – will be open for fans inside Lynn Family Stadium, giving many supporters their first look at this year’s team.
“We know we’re going to get a really tough test here on Saturday,“ LouCity coach John Hackworth told WDRB’s John Lewis in the year’s first Yackin’ with Hack interview segment.
“We’ve had a long preseason and what we’re trying to think about is: Can we put it all together? Can we do it against a worthy opponent who we know is going to present us with numerous challenges? And if we can problem solve our way through that game, have a good performance, then we’ll really good about going into that opening game against Atlanta.”
Saturday’s match provides the boys in purple a proper week-long run up for its April 24 regular season opener against Atlanta United 2, which will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Tickets for Saturday’s game are still available for purchase at www.loucity.com or by calling (502) LOU-CITY during regular business hours.
Yackin’ with Hack airs each week as part of WDRB’s sportscast. WDRB Media’s family of networks, mainly WBKI/The CW, will air all but two of the club’s regular season games.
