After scoring his first goal of the year over the weekend, Louisville City FC midfielder Devon ”Speedy” Williams was on Tuesday named to the United Soccer League Team of the Week.
Williams also completed 81 of his 95 passes in his first game back from international duty with Jamaica to lead LouCity in a 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
In addition to Williams’ recognition, forward Luke Spencer made the Team of the Week bench for his efforts in Pittsburgh. Spencer scored the game’s opening goal and set up Williams’ second half strike by earning a penalty kick.
This marks Williams’ first Team of the Week appearance this year. Spencer, who leads LouCity with nine goals, has made two previous and was once named USL Player of the Week.
The boys in purple will look to maintain their first-place form on Friday when they host Bethlehem Steel FC for a 7:30 p.m. showdown at Slugger Field.
