The USL Championship has named Louisville City FC midfielder Taylor Davila to its Team of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Davila registered his ninth league assist in last week’s 2-2 draw at Hartford Athletic, setting up Jake Morris’ 48th-minute goal.
Those nine assists are tied for the overall USL Championship lead, equal with Jeremy Kelly of the Charleston Battery. It also equals Davila’s career high for a USL Championship season, set last season when he was named Player of the Year.
Overall, Davila has totaled 10 assists in all competitions this season, leading LouCity. That mark is just two off his single-season career high in all competitions (12), set last season.
In the draw with Hartford, Davila completed 57 of 62 passes (91.9%) — including a team-high 24 passes in the final third — leading the team in passing attempts, completions and percentage. Defensively, Davila won two of his four attempted tackles, also leading LouCity. He won possession five times overall, third most for LouCity on the night.
The selection marks the 18th time this season a LouCity player has been chosen for the USL Championship Team of the Week. For Davila, this is his fourth selection.
Davila and LouCity are back in action on Sunday in the Prinx Tires USL Cup Final. With a win, the club would become the first to win all three major USL trophies: the USL Championship title, the Players’ Shield and the USL Cup.
Like last week’s league game, the USL Cup Final will take place against Hartford Athletic at Trinity Health Stadium in Connecticut. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET, with national broadcast airing on ESPN2. Locally, the game will air on ESPN Louisville’s 680 AM and 105.7 FM.
