Louisville City FC will kick off this year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, April 16, when hosting Greenville Triumph SC. The Third Round game is set for 7 p.m. at Lynn Family Stadium.
Season ticket members will be contacted via email with information on how to reserve their regular seats. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday on LouCity.com or by calling (502) LOU-CITY
The Third Round consists of surviving Second Round clubs from the amateur and lower-division professional ranks paired against newcomers from the USL Championship level. Greenville hails from USL League One, and this marks LouCity’s first matchup against the Triumph, who have made the playoffs in all five of their seasons and won their 2020 league title.
The Open Cup, U.S. Soccer’s knockout national championship tournament, is in its 109th edition. The winner will earn $300,000 in prize money and a berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup. The runner-up will earn $100,000, while the team that advances the furthest from each lower division will take home a $25,000 cash prize.
Following the Third Round, the Round of 32 will be played May 7-8 with a draw determining opponent and host club. The Open Cup runs up to a September 25 Final.
Broadcasts of all Third Round matches will stream live on usopencup.com and uslsoccer.com.
