Louisville City FC coach Danny Cruz promised rotation as his club visits FC Cincinnati, and he delivered Wednesday with seven lineup changes ahead of a 7 p.m. kickoff at TQL Stadium.
The boys in purple will maintain their familiar 4-4-3 formation in this Third Round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game — but with adjustments from back to front.
Kyle Morton is in goal for the first time since April 1, while Oscar Jimenez and Wes Charpie join the Sean Totsch and Manny Perez on the back line. This marks Charpie’s first start of the year after he came on as a sub in LouCity’s weekend draw against the Charleston Battery, working himself back from offseason surgery.
Carlos Moguel Jr., Dylan Mares and Elijah Wynder make up a new midfield from the weekend. The front three consists of Enoch Mushagalusa and Rasmus Thellufsen, in addition to Cameron Lancaster at striker.
LouCity enters Wednesday on a four-game unbeaten streak dating back to a 1-0 victory over neighboring Lexington SC in the Open Cup’s Second Round. It will be a tall task facing FC Cincinnati, a Major League Soccer club that enters U.S. Soccer’s national championship tournament having lost just once this season.
Wednesday’s game will stream live on B/R Football’s YouTube channel and ESPN Louisville’s 680/105.7.
