Hartford Athletic will host Louisville City FC in the Prinx Tires USL Cup Final at Trinity Health Stadium in Hartford, Conn., the United Soccer League announced Wednesday.
The game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 4, and air nationally on ESPN2. Local radio coverage will air on ESPN 680 AM and 105.7 FM.
The league determined the host in a draw Wednesday.
Louisville City’s game at Sporting JAX, previously scheduled for Oct. 4, will be rescheduled at a later time.
LouCity advanced to the final after a 0-0 draw at San Antonio FC Tuesday, winning the penalty shootout 8-7. It will be the fifth final in Louisville City history and first since the 2022 USL Championship Final. If LouCity wins, the club would become the first to win the USL Championship title, Players’ Shield and USL Cup in its history. LouCity would also become the second USL Championship club to win three league-wide trophies in three seasons.
“Obviously, wherever the game is played, our objective is to lift the trophy at the end of it,” LouCity interim head coach Simon Bird said after the club’s semifinal win. “So (we’re) just delighted to be in the final. It’s been a fantastic tournament for us, from the first game all the way through. We’re excited about it.”
Hartford, the defending USL Cup champion, reached the final after a 2-1 win over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks Tuesday. Hartford won last season’s USL Cup, taking the final 1-0 at Sacramento Republic.
This season’s final will be one of back-to-back meetings between the clubs — Hartford will host LouCity in a regular-season game on Friday, Sept. 25, the weekend before the USL Cup Final.
