The USL Championship has named Louisville City FC defender Sean Totsch to its Team of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
The 34-year-old scored LouCity’s lone goal, a penalty kick, in a 1-1 draw at Rhode Island FC on Saturday. Additionally, Totsch won possession seven times in the game, tied for the LouCity lead, and completed 84.4% of his passes, second among LouCity starters.
Totsch has now converted 16 of the 17 penalty kicks he has attempted in his career, not including shootouts, all with Louisville City. The 12-year USL Championship veteran is in his 10th season with LouCity.
Totsch will turn 35 later this month.
The selection marks the 16th time this season a LouCity player has been chosen for the USL Championship Team of the Week. It is Totsch’s second selection of the season — he was also picked in Week Four.
Totsch and Louisville City return to action tonight in a Prinx Tires USL Cup semifinal at San Antonio FC. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET at Toyota Field in Texas.
LouCity will return home this weekend to face El Paso Locomotive FC, the first-place team in the Western Conference. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium.
