Kevon Lambert will make his first appearance for Louisville City FC since August 1 as one of five changes interim head coach Simon Bird has made for Saturday’s visit to Rhode Island FC.
Kickoff at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I., is set for 7:30 p.m. The game will air in Louisville on MyTV 58 and ESPN Louisville’s 680 AM and 105.7 FM. For streaming, log on to ESPN+ or the free WDRB+WAVE app.
Lambert has had an injury-riddled season. To this point, the 29-year-old Jamaican international has made just seven appearances in all competitions, including six in league play.
He missed around four months this season before returning in July for a span of five games, including his first career two-goal performance against Birmingham Legion FC on July 29. His last appearance was a 5-4 loss at the Tamp Bay Rowdies on Aug. 1.
Lambert is joined by forwards Tola Showunmi and Quenzi Huerman as well as defenders Sean Totsch and Sam Gleadle as the changes Bird makes for Saturday’s game, following a 0-0 draw last week with Detroit City FC.
Lambert will start in the midfield with Evan Davila, who led LouCity with three shots last week.
Showunmi and Huerman will join Jansen Wilson as a three-pronged attack. Notably, Wilson and Huerman have started together just three times this year, including a USL Cup game in which they each tallied braces in a 5-1 win at Union Omaha on May 17.
Totsch and Gleadle join Kyle Adams, Brandon Dayes and Aiden McFadden in the five-man backline. Notably, McFadden slides to left wingback, with Gleadle coming in on the right. Totsch will play betwen Adams and Dayes.
Danny Faundez keeps his place in goal after registering LouCity’s first league clean sheet since July 4 last time out.
On the bench, newcomer Ryan Schewe is available for the first time after joining LouCity on loan from Sporting Kansas City this week.
Reigning USL Championship Player of the Year Taylor Davila, tied for the league lead with seven assists, is also available as a substitute. Several other regular starters are also available, including Jake Morris, Ray Serrano, Chris Donovan, Amadou Dia, Manny Perez and Mukwelle Akale. Cooper Conley, the 19-year-old forward that is with LouCity on a USL Academy contract, is also among the available players.
