Louisville City FC defender Josh Jones will make his first start of the season Sunday when LouCity visits Union Omaha in the Prinx Tires USL Cup group stage.
Kickoff at Morrison Stadium is set for 5 p.m. ET. The game will air on WBKI/The CW and ESPN Louisville’s 680 AM/105.7 FM. ESPN+ and WDRB+ will carry streaming coverage.
Jones, the second-year pro, has battled injury this season. He came off the bench in the season opener on March 6, playing 12 minutes in a win at Lexington SC. He then missed around six weeks of action due to injury, returning off the bench against the Houston Dynamo in the U.S. Open Cup and against Detroit City FC in league play.
A USL Championship Defender of the Year finalist in 2025, Jones provides an aerial threat in both boxes at 6-foot-5. He ranked fourth in interceptions and seventh in tackles won last year for Louisville.
Jones is one of four changes for interim head coach Simon Bird, following last week’s 2-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in league play.
In goal, Hugo Fauroux returns to the starting lineup after nearly a month. His last start came on April 18 in a 1-0 win against Sporting JAX. Danny Faundez started four games in the interim.
Ray Serrano and Evan Davila start on the wings in the front three, replacing Jansen Wilson and Mukwelle Akale. Serrano’s six goal contributions — three goals and three assists — rank second on the team, while Davila has also scored this season.
The rest of the Louisville lineup is unchanged.
Aiden McFadden and Sean Totsch start for the second game running after returning from injury last week. Captain Kyle Adams and Manny Perez join them and Jones to make up Louisville’s back five. Adams is the only Louisville player to start in all 14 games this season.
Taylor Davila and Zach Duncan start together in the midfield. The duo were active in the attack last week. Davila’s 39 passes in the final third were a team-high, while Zach Duncan completed 90.5% of his passes in the final third, also a team-best, for a total of 21.
Tola Showunmi starts at center forward for the ninth time this season. His five goals are tied for the team lead with Jansen Wilson.
Wilson, who has also registered three assists this season, headlines the available substitutes, which also include forwards Chris Donovan, Quenzi Huerman and Akale.
