Longtime Louisville City FC goalkeeper Danny Faundez will get his first start of the 2026 season on Saturday, as Louisville hosts Fort Wayne FC of USL League One in the USL Prinx Tires Cup.
The 33-year-old has been a member of LouCity since 2022, when he memorably backstopped a LouCity playoff run to the USL Championship Final. He has not appeared in a competitive match for the club since October 11, 2025.
Hugo Fauroux, Louisville’s presumptive starter in goal, will miss Saturday’s cup match due to an injury that kept him out of training this week.
Faundez is part of a rotated lineup that includes six total changes from last week’s 1-0 win over Sporting JAX.
Quenzi Huerman will start in the attack, making his first appearance for LouCity since March 18, when he started in a U.S. Open Cup victory against amateur side Southern Indiana FC. The Frenchman, who is in his first season with Louisville, has two starts in his three appearances this season, all in the opening two weeks of the campaign.
Two other newcomers will start with him in the front three: Chris Donovan and Mukwelle Akale. The duo have combined for two goals and three assists across all competitions this season.
Babacar Niang and Zach Duncan pair in the Louisville midfield. Saturday’s game will be just the second of the season in which reigning USL Championship Player of the Year Taylor Davila will not start in the middle of the park. He was left out of the squad for the Southern Indiana game.
Niang and Duncan have combined for 19 appearances this season, including 10 starts, with two goals, evenly split.
The backline in front of Faundez features regular starters Kyle Adams and Brandon Dayes, along with Carlos Moguel Jr.
Adams, LouCity’s captain, has played every LouCity game this season across competitions (10), while Dayes has started every game for which he’s been available, aside from international duty (8). Moguel, meanwhile, has now featured in five games this season, including three starts, all at center back.
Davila headlines the available substitutes, which also include brother Evan. Leading scorer Tola Showunmi, with five goals across competitions this season, is available along with last week’s match winner, Jansen Wilson.
