For the first time since Nov. 4, 2023, captain Brian Ownby will start for Louisville City FC as the club faces the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The club’s all-time assist leader, Ownby suffered a preseason knee injury in March 2024 that sidelined him for that entire campaign. Since rehabbing the injury Ownby has made seven competitive appearances in 2025, including five in USL Championship play, all off the bench.
But Saturday will be Ownby’s first start in 679 days. Elected captain prior to the injury, Ownby will wear the armband.
He will join a LouCity attack that features two other club legends: Niall McCabe and Cameron Lancaster, the latter making his first league start since joining LouCity on loan earlier this season.
The trio starts together for the first time since March 11, 2023, that season’s opener at Orange County SC. McCabe and Lancaster scored in the 3-1 win, with Ownby assisting both of those goals.
McCabe was in the midfield for that game, with Ownby and Lancaster starting in the attack. The last time the three started on the front line together was July 25, 2020 against Sporting Kansas City II, a 1-0 win. Lancaster scored the winner on a McCabe assist.
On Saturday, McCabe will occupy the left wing and Ownby the right, while Lancaster will play as the center forward.
On the other end of the field, goalkeeper Damian Las returns from injury to start for the first time since a 4-2 win at Miami FC on Aug. 16. The 23-year-old missed the last three games.
In the midfield, Kevon Lambert returns from international duty with Jamaica to start. The Real Salt Lake loanee missed last week’s win at Rhode Island while representing his country in World Cup qualifying. Lambert didn’t see any action for the Reggae Boyz in wins over Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago.
Aiden McFadden, who has scored in three of the last four games, starts at left wingback. Academy player Brandon Dayes will make his second career league start on the right.
Next to Lambert in the midfield, Taylor Davila will make his 24th league start.
Kyle Adams, Josh Jones and Sean Totsch fill out the back line for Louisville.
On the bench, the USL Championship’s August Player of the Month Jansen Wilson headlines a list of attacking options that includes regular starter Ray Serrano. Jake Morris and Amadou Dia provide depth behind McFadden and Dayes at wingback.
