Ahead of the most anticipated game of the season, Louisville City FC head coach Danny Cruz has made one change to his lineup, selecting Arturo Ordóñez over Sean Totsch in the backline.
Cruz’s LouCity faces the Charleston Battery at 8 p.m. at Lynn Family Stadium, in front of what’s expected to be the largest crowd of the season on “Fill the Fam” night. The sides are level on points atop the USL Championship standings, and Saturday’s matchup carries major Players’ Shield and playoff implications.
The change sees former USL Championship Defender of the Year Ordóñez replace Totsch, the league’s all-time minutes leader. It’s Ordóñez’s first USL Championship start since June 20 — a 2-1 loss at North Carolina FC, LouCity’s lone league defeat this year.
Rookie Josh Jones and captain Kyle Adams join Ordóñez in a back three, with Amadou Dia and Aiden McFadden operating as wingbacks. That unit will shield goalkeeper Damian Las, the only LouCity player to have played every minute of competitive action this season.
Taylor Davila and Kevon Lambert partner in midfield. The duo won possession a combined 11 times in last week’s 4-1 win over North Carolina, with Lambert also scoring the opening goal.
Jansen Wilson and Ray Serrano start in the wide forward roles, while Phillip Goodrum leads the line. The trio has combined for 18 goals and six assists in league play this season.
On the bench, LouCity stalwarts Totsch, Brian Ownby, Niall McCabe, and Cameron Lancaster bring a wealth of winning experience should Cruz need to close out a result.
The match will air locally on MyTV 58 and on ESPN Louisville’s 680/105.7. WDRB+ will stream the match locally, while the CBS Sports Golazo Network provides national streaming coverage.
