Wilson Harris, Louisville City FC’s leading scorer, slots back in a starting role Wednesday night for the first time in four games as the boys in purple play at Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Kickoff from Highmark Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. with CBS Sports Network to broadcast. Fans can also tune into the radio call on ESPN Louisville’s AM 680/FM 105.7.
Having missed a pair of games due to a mild muscle strain, Harris returned as a second half substitute over the weekend in a 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rowdies. He enters on 10 goals for the season, ranking second in the USL Championship to the 12 by Charleston Battery’s Nick Markanich.
Harris will take a spot on the front end of a formation that provides coach Danny Cruz options. The striker will pair with Tola Showunmi, the former Riverhounds forward earning his first LouCity start on the return to Pittsburgh.
Showunmi could play on the right side of City’s regular 5-2-3 formation with Harris at center forward and Jorge Gonzalez on the left. Or Shownumi could pair with Harris up top in a 3-5-2 shape, pushing Gonzalez into more of a midfield role.
Harris (for Sam Gleadle) and Shownumi (for Ray Serrano) represent two of Cruz’s four changes on the tight turnaround. Wes Charpie replaces Sean Totsch in defense, where he’ll play beside Kyle Adams and Arturo Ordóñez. Jansen Wilson also spells Aiden McFadden on the right wing; Jake Morris is his counterpart on the left.
Taylor Davila and Elijah Wynder return in the midfield, while Damian Las is back in goal.
First-place LouCity (10-2-2, 32 points) would go two games clear of Charleston on the Eastern Conference table with a win. Pittsburgh (3-6-5, 14 points) enters 10th of 12 in the East, looking to return to a playoff position.
