Louisville City FC coach Danny Cruz went into the weekend feeling confident in his team’s ability to handle a quick turnaround when hosting Orange County SC at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
“You’ve seen the lineups that I’ve put out. They’ve been pretty similar throughout the season up to this point,” Cruz said. “Those guys have earned it. But it’s also because they’re recovering well, staying healthy and playing at a high level.”
Accordingly, Cruz’s starting lineup features only four changes off a midweek trip to the west coast, where LouCity went to extra time against Seattle Sounders FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
First, it’s Damian Las stepping in between the posts after Danny Faundez started in goal against the Sounders. Kyle Adams and Sean Totsch return on the back line with Arturo Ordóñez getting the start in exchange for Wes Charpie, who had the assignment Wednesday.
Jake Morris (left) and Jansen Wilson (right) will take up the flanks in City’s 5-2-3 formation. Wilson’s back in a starting role after appearing as a substitute last time out.
Taylor Davila and Elijah Wynder keep their role in the midfield pairing behind Cruz’s front three of Jorge Gonzalez — in for Adrien Perez — as well as Wilson Harris and Ray Serrano.
LouCity-Orange County will air locally on WBKI/The CW and ESPN Louisville’s AM 680/FM 105.7 with streaming coverage via ESPN+.
