For the first time in 2024, there will be changes aplenty to Louisville City FC’s starting lineup when the boys in purple kick off against the Charleston Battery at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
LouCity got off to a 4-0 start as coach Danny Cruz used the same starting 11. But a quick turnaround from a weekend win over Indy Eleven forced Cruz into rotation, and he made five changes for this rematch of the 2023 USL Championship Eastern Conference Final.
Captain Kyle Adams and Arturo Ordóñez return along the back three, while Wes Charpie will get his first start of the season, moving Sean Totsch to the bench. That group will line up in front of goalkeeper Damian Las.
Out wide will be Amadou Dia, left, and recently acquired Atlanta United loanee Aiden McFadden, right, who replace Jake Morris and Jansen Wilson, respectively.
The midfield in this 5-2-3 formation will feature a new duo in the returning Taylor Davila and Carlos Moguel Jr., who will make his season debut in place of Elijah Wynder.
City’s front three will see Jorge Gonzalez inserted for Adrien Perez, while Ray Serrano with Wilson Harris are back days after Harris netted his first professional hat trick and Serrano had a pair of assists in the 5-3 victory over Indy.
With another win, the boys in purple would secure the club’s best-ever start to a season at 5-0.
LouCity-Charleston will air nationally on CBS Sports Network and locally on ESPN Louisville’s AM 680/FM 105.7.
