Louisville City FC head coach Danny Cruz will stick to a winning formula when his squad takes to the Lynn Family Stadium pitch for Saturday’s home opener.
Cruz is going with the same starting 11 for a 4 p.m. kickoff against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC as the one that defeated El Paso Locomotive FC away in last weekend’s season opener.
Damian Las returns in goal after making six saves to keep a clean sheet on debut. In front of him will be a back three of defenders Kyle Adams, Arturo Ordóñez and Sean Totsch, from left to right.
Adams will wear the captain’s armband, and Ordóñez will go up against his former club, Pittsburgh, after last season leading the Riverhounds to the Eastern Conference’s best record.
City newcomers Jake Morris, left, and Jansen Wilson, right, both retain their starting roles on the flanks. Cruz’s midfield trio will once again consist of Taylor Davila, Ray Serrano and LouCity Academy graduate Elijah Wynder.
Wilson Harris, who last weekend became the youngest player in USL Championship history to reach 50 career goals, has the assignment at striker alongside Adrien Perez.
Cruz made two adjustments to his pool of substitutes from Week 1. Amadou Dia’s available in place of Tola Showunmi, while recent USL Academy contract signee Hayden Stamps also dresses. Stamps benefits from a new USL Championship rule permitting home clubs to roster two players under age 17.
LouCity-Pittsburgh will air locally on WBKI/The CW and ESPN Louisville’s AM 680/FM 105.7 with streaming coverage via ESPN+.
