After rotating heavily in a midweek U.S. Open Cup game, Louisville City FC is back to fielding its regular USL Championship starters Saturday at Memphis 901 FC — with a couple of exceptions.
Jorge Gonzalez is off the injury list and in the lineup ahead of an 8 p.m. opening whistle at AutoZone Park, and Ray Serrano will join him in a new-look front three.
Gonzalez last appeared for LouCity in a 1-0 win April 8 against Detroit City FC. While he didn’t score the game-winning goal, the Spanish midfielder claimed Man of the Match honors by putting 3 of 4 shots on target and creating a team-high 4 chances.
Serrano has also dealt with injuries to open the season but made a substitute appearance Wednesday at FC Cincinnati.
Gonzalez replaces Enoch Mushagalusa — he went the distance in the Open Cup game — while Brian Ownby is available off the bench Saturday. Wilson Harris maintains his spot at striker.
There are no other changes to report from last weekend’s scoreless draw against the first-place Charleston Battery.
Oliver Semmle is back in goal after resting through the Cup game with Amadou Dia, Josh Wynder, Sean Totsch and Manny Perez making up the back four. Tyler Gibson, Paolo Del Piccolo and Rasmus Thellufsen have spots in the midfield.
Niall McCabe and Jordan Scarlett were ruled out going into Saturday due to injury. Cameron Lancaster, listed as questionable entering the weekend, will miss with an illness.
Saturday’s game will air locally on WBKI/The CW and ESPN Louisville’s 680/105.7. USL Championship games also stream via ESPN+.
