Louisville City FC will enter its USL Championship Playoffs opener on Saturday without a starting lineup change dating back to its last live game on Oct. 15. Still, fans will notice a pair of key names missing from the team sheet altogether.
Golden Glove winner Kyle Morton will miss the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal due to a back injury, marking his second straight game out. Additionally, Brian Ownby isn’t yet fit to play against Pittsburgh, with the star winger hampered by a leg ailment since last appearing on Sept. 17.
Striker Cameron Lancaster will be available off the bench on the return from a groin injury that kept him out most of the regular season.
So while LouCity boasts a veteran-laden roster, the starting 11 itself is relatively new to the postseason.
Goalkeeper Danny Faundez, defender Josh Wynder, winger Ray Serrano and forward Enoch Muhsagalusa are all set for their USL Championship Playoffs debuts. Wilson Harris (2018, Sporting KC II) and Manny Perez (2019, North Carolina FC) both appeared as substitutes earlier in their careers but this time get a postseason start.
While it’s a first playoff appearance in purple for defender Amadou Dia, deep postseason runs are the norm for the former Phoenix Rising FC standout who faced LouCity in the 2018 USL Championship Final.
LouCity veterans Sean Totsch, Wes Charpie, Tyler Gibson and Paolo DelPiccolo each appeared in all three of the club’s playoff games in 2021.
