Louisville City FC opened this week with one player going out (defender Owen Damm to Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC ) and another coming back in (defender Sebastian Sanchez via South Georgia Tormenta FC) from loans to USL League One sides, it was announced Wednesday.
Both LouCity Academy graduates signed professional deals in recent months that include an academic scholarship to Bellevue University, the United Soccer League’s Official Education Partner.
Damm is heading back to Colorado for a second loan spell having been recalled to start in LouCity’s May 13 game at LA Galaxy II, marking his club debut. The 18-year-old Versailles, Ky., native opened the season by making League One appearances for Hailstorm FC and saw the field during the club’s April 6 upset of USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks SC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Sanchez, the son of youth academy director Mario Sanchez, played with the first team throughout preseason games after a big 2021. He featured on LouCity’s USL Academy League squad that went 6-3-1 and earned an invitation to the Elite Clubs National League Regional All-Star Game. Out of Ballard High School, Sanchez continues to await a regular-season pro debut after his stint with Tormenta FC.
