Louisville City FC will host Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, inside Lynn Family Stadium.
The game date and time were both confirmed by U.S. Soccer along with other Second Round fixtures in the nation’s national championship knockout tournament.
Season ticket members will automatically be opted in to home Open Cup games. Look for emailed communication in the coming days on pricing and the ability to opt out. Single-game tickets will go on sale later.
Consisting of 31 games, the Second Round sees professional clubs from the Division II level (such as LouCity’s USL Championship) and Division III (including Chattanooga’s USL League One) join the First Round’s surviving amateur sides.
Major League Soccer clubs will be introduced for the Third Round, which whittles the tournament to 32 teams. Play continues through September’s final.
Home teams for each round are determined by random selection among those who apply to host. Clubs whose venue meets minimum tournament standards are given priority.
This year’s 107th Open Cup ends a two-year event hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, LouCity advanced as far as the quarterfinals in 2018, boasting a tournament history that includes multiple wins over MLS competition.
ESPN+ serves as the live streaming home for Open Cup games.
