LOUISVILLE (February 14, 2019) – Louisville City coach John Hackworth gave a brief video interview after his squad beat the New England Revolution from the MLS 3-1 Thursday evening.
Louisville City is in Bradenton, Fla., at IMG Academy for training camp and the two squads had a preseason friendly match.
LouCity jumped ahead early with a header by Speedy Williams in the third minute. Brian Ownby provided the assist. Louisville City pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute on a goal by Niall McCabe, assist by Speedy Williams.
Louisville City increased its lead to 3-0 on a goal by Magnus Rasmussen in the 65th minute, assist to newcomer Sunny Jane. New England scored three minutes later on a header in the 68th minute, but LouCity maintained a 3-1 lead throughout the rest of the match.
SERIES NOTE: Louisville City also beat the New England Revolution last season when the teams met in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup on June 5, 2018 at Lynn Stadium.
