With Greg Ranjitsingh on international duty for Saturday’s game, Louisville City FC will turn to Tim Dobrowolski to play between the posts when the Charlotte Independence comes to town.
Dobrowolski made his last start on August 5th against the Independence on the road. Charlotte proved a challenge for the Illinois native, getting the best of him in LouCity’s 3-1 loss in their previous meeting.
Overall, the former Loyola Rambler has put up solid numbers for LouCity this season. In 11 appearances, 10 of which were starts, he has compiled three clean sheets, a 68.8% save rate, and conceded only 10 goals.
“Tim has been fantastic,” said Coach James O’Connor. “Tim has stepped in a long way as we knew he would. We really have tremendous belief in Tim and he’s been, for me, has performed very, very well and made some really good saves in important times for us.”
Dobrowolski is a welcomed presence on the field by his teammates, often being commended for his attitude and ability to take initiative when Greg Ranjitsingh is not available to be in the position.
When asked about his teammate, Oscar Jimenez said “Usually, I mean I’ve been on teams where the second keeper is kind of shy, just because he comes in and is not the No. 1. Tim’s always had that No. 1 kind of personality to him, and that’s great because we need him to step up while Greg’s not here.”
Dobrowolski was named to USL’s Team of the Week in the ninth week of the season as a bench player, as well as had USL’s save of the week during the fifth week of the season. “I’m just doing the best I can, taking every day as a gift and giving the best I can with each performance,” said Dobrowolski.
