Louisville City FC midfielder Brian Owny (Goal of the Week) and goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski (Save of the Week) both prevailed in United Soccer League fan voting to earn recognition following plays made last Saturday in a 1-1 draw with FC Cincinnati.
Ownby, who in the 20th minute put LouCity ahead with a spot that bounced in off the left post, earned 57 percent of the vote. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Marshall Hollingsworth (15 percent) and Charleston Battery’s Maikel Chang (11 percent) were the next-closest vote getters.
Dobrowolski, who was up for his first Save of the Week nomination, leaped in the 40th minute to tip a shot by FC Cincinnati’s Matt Bahner over the crossbar. Dobrowolski collected 48 percent of the vote, topping Orange County SC goalkeeper Charlie Lyon (36 percent) and Charleston’s Odisnel Cooper (16 percent).
While striker Cameron Lancaster was nominated for a pair of Goal of the Week awards, this marks the first win in 2017 for LouCity in either that or the Save of the Week category.
Unbeaten through five games, LouCity will next put its record on the line at 7:30 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Toronto FC II at Louisville Slugger Field.
