Louisville City FC and the University of Kentucky will not meet during the preseason after the Wildcats were forced to cancel next week’s game due to scheduling issues. The two were originally slated to play March 15 at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, Ky.
It’s unlikely LouCity fills the date with another team with fewer than three weeks until the United Soccer League season opens. But the club has a pair of other preseason games scheduled, for 7 p.m. Wednesday against NCAA Division I Lipscomb University in Elizabethtown, Ky., and for March 18 against the North American Soccer League’s Indy Eleven in Evansville, Ind.
The club opened its preseason last weekend with a 3-1 win over Young Harris College in a closed-door game. Matchups with Lipscomb and Indy are open to the public.
The USL season kicks off March 25, when rival Saint Louis FC visits Slugger Field for a 2 p.m. start.
