Louisville City FC and iHeartMedia on Monday announced radio station assignments for the 2017 regular season that feature at least 19 games broadcast on flagship 840 WHAS (WHAS-AM). Four games were slated for Cards Radio 790 KRD (WKRD-AM) and two for Talk Radio 1080 (WKJK-AM).
Destinations for LouCity’s other seven games — including the opener and a handful played during college football season — will be determined later.
The club recently forged a landmark broadcast rights deal with iHeartMedia to join its other sports partners: the University of Louisville, University of Kentucky and Louisville Bats. Home and away games will air on iHeart’s family of networks, complemented by the weekly “Soccer City” radio show from 9-10 a.m. Saturday on 790 WKRD.
T.J. Walker (play-by-play) and Jeff Milby (color commentary) will call the action on LouCity game broadcasts. Additionally, Milby hosts “Soccer City,” which is presented by Mulloy Commercial Real Estate.
LouCity’s agreement with iHeart includes game coverage on the iHeartRadio mobile app and expanded promotional announcements across several iHeartMedia radio stations.
The broadcasts will consist of 15-minute pregame and postgame shows, allowing time for exclusive interviews and updates from around the United Soccer League, of which LouCity is one of 32 teams this year.
The 2017 season kicks off at 2 p.m. March 25 as LouCity hosts rival Saint Louis FC at Louisville Slugger Field. LouCity returns the core of a roster that advanced to last year’s USL semifinals and brought in seven newcomers, among them Louisville native and DuPont Manual High School graduate Richard Ballard.
