All this month, game-worn 2016 Louisville City FC jerseys will be up for auction through eBay with all proceeds benefitting the Blessings in a Backpack program at Engelhard Elementary, a cause close to the club’s front office.
Bidding starts at $75 — less than the in-store cost of a replica kit — for returning players’ home (purple) and away (gold/white) jerseys. Those worn by goalkeepers in 2016 will be available as well.
Photos on each auction listing will show any wear and tear sustained on the item. Winners of LouCity’s jersey auctions will be contacted with the option of having their jersey signed by returning players. Shipping is a flat rate of $6, with pickup available for free at the club’s office, 127 S. 6th Street.
Available now:
• George Davis IV (home purple)
• Cameron Lancaster (away white/gold)
• Sean Reynolds (away white/gold)
On average, one in five American children face food insecurity on the weekends. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack works within elementary schools to ensure kids don’t go hungry.
This past December, LouCity’s front office staff, along with coaches and players in town for the offseason, put a fresh coat of paint on a main hallway at Engelhard Elementary. The club’s logo is displayed in the school, and players pitched in with that week’s Blessings in a Backpack giving.
“When we went there in the offseason and saw the work that the staff does, and it’s a really noble effort they put in,” said LouCity midfielder Niall McCabe. “No kid should have to be hungry over the weekend just because school is out. I believe it’s a very worthy cause. We’re glad to help.”
