LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After spending two matches on the road, Louisville City FC (4-1-0, 12 points) returns to Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday (7:30 | TICKETS)to take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (0-2-1, 1 point). LouCity grabbed maximum points from the trip, defeating FC Cincinnati, 3-2, on April 16 and the Harrisburg City Islanders by the same score on Saturday. Here are three things to watch for Wednesday’s tilt against Pittsburgh.
THREE THINGS TO WATCH
Getting Over the Pittsburgh Hump on Hump Day: In 2015, LouCity played against the Riverhounds twice, drawing 1-1 away and losing 0-1 at Slugger. This Wednesday will be an opportunity for coach James O’Connor’s table-topping side to grab their first win against a team that gave them trouble in the Club’s historic first-ever season.
Chan The Man: LouCity striker Chandler Hoffman has been on fire. The MLS Cup winner has scored a remarkable six goals in his last three games, two of which came on Saturday against Harrisburg. Hoffman’s current tally at six is good enough for best in the USL, something that surely pleases O’Connor. The LouCity striker will look to continue his hot form against Pittsburgh Wednesday night.
The Niall River: While Hoffman has been smashing in the goals, LouCity midfielder Niall McCabe has dished them out. The Ireland native leads the league in assists with three, two going to Hoffman. McCabe has been an important cog in the outstanding LouCity attack all season, so fans should not expect that to change any time soon.
BONUS! Lights, Camera, Action: Wednesday’s match will be broadcast on television for the first time in Louisville City FC history. The game will be shown on MeTV in Louisville, so fans who are unable to make it out to Slugger on Hump Day will be able to catch the action at home on TV.
Louisville City FC faces the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (7:30 p.m. | TICKETS) on Wednesday. A limited number of LouCity Match Packs (4 tickets | 4 shirts | On-field VIP experience) are available now for $60 with promo code 4FOR60 when selecting the Group Zone.
LouCity then embarks on a two-match road trip with visits to MLS-affiliates Bethlehem Steel (3 p.m. | MATCH CENTER) on May 1 and Toronto FC II (7:30 p.m. | MATCH CENTER) on May 4.
