Louisville, Ky. — After 13 days in Florida, 27 training sessions and a few gallons of sweat and sunscreen, here’s some stuff about LouCity that we hope will hold you over until we get to actually watch a real game of soccer on a real field with our own two real eyes. That will be awesome.
No More Florida Sunshine
The team arrived in Louisville on Saturday after a two-week preseason camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
As a general rule, Florida is warmer than Kentucky.
So while our guys love the 502, it’s safe to say they had some fun in the sun.
Although the weather isn’t currently great in Louisville, we still have to go to work. You can read a report from Wednesday’s practice choc-full of quotes from the great Coach O’Connor here.
LouCity Players Hang Out With Euro Stars
During our stay in the land of retirement homes and disputed presidential elections, we ran into some semi-famous guys at IMG.
NYCFC’s David Villa, Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo were all super pumped to meet LouCity’s Enrique Montano (shown with Pirlo), Kadeem Dacres (with Lampard) and Niall McCabe (with Villa).
It was a collision of great soccering worlds, and we’re sure all those photos are framed next to Villa, Lampard and Pirlos respective World Cup, UEFA Champions League and domestic league trophies.
Preseason Game Against SIUE Saturday
Good news and bad news here, friends.
I’ll give you the good news first: We’re going to play soccer against another team on Saturday!
The bad news is that its closed to the public. However, you can follow along by following Twitter (@loucityfc). And, we’ll have have a game story up. It’ll be like you were there! Promise.
If that doesn’t get you excited, we do have a game against the University of Louisville Cardinals next Thursday at Lynn Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
Well, that about wraps it up for this edition of the Purple Press. Until next time.
