2022: Gibson returns on a new contract for his second season in Louisville.
Last Season: The 30-year-old central midfielder made 19 starts in his 28 appearances last year, suffering an injury down the stretch of the campaign that limited his time entering the USL Championship Playoffs. Despite the abbreviated time, Gibson still proved to be a crucial distributor, ranking third on the roster by completing 86.4% of his passes.
Before Louisville City: Gibson made a career of soccer after his time as a four-year starter for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he started every game of a 2011 season capped by a national championship game appearance. Gibson played for the San Antonio Scorpions, Rayo OKC and San Francisco Deltas until he landed in the USL Championship with FC Cincinnati where he was limited to nine appearances at Cincinnati having rehabbed from a broken leg suffered during the 2018 preseason. Gibson then joined rival Indy Eleven, where in 2020 he led the side in minutes played (1,385) and started in each of the club’s 16 games. He also finished second on the team in passes (810) and first in passing accuracy with 84%.
