Full house. Filled the the rafters. Packed to the gills. Standing room only. A sea of purple.
On Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium, a season-high crowd is expected to be on-hand as Louisville City FC hosts San Antonio FC on Fill the Fam. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. in Butchertown.
The annual sell-out push has brought in big crowds over the years, including 13,611 last season and a stadium-record 14,673 in 2022. The club is expecting another sizable turnout on Saturday.
Those crowds have pushed the boys in purple to success on the field. LouCity is 4-0 in Fill the Fam games. Similar support on Saturday — and a similar result — could make a significant difference to LouCity’s season.
LouCity (8-7-3, 27 points) is in the midst of one of the most difficult stretches of the campaign. Last week’s 5-4 loss at the Tampa Bay Rowdies kicked off a seven-game stretch against playoff contending teams, including three-straight against the USL Championship’s top three teams.
That includes Saturday’s opponent, San Antonio FC (8-3-7, 31 points), which sits second in the Western Conference standings and third overall.
LouCity, meanwhile, is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, in position to host a playoff game. Louisville is 11 points back of Tampa Bay for the top spot in the conference and six points clear of eighth-place Indy Eleven for the final playoff spot.
Notably, the matchup is a rematch of the 2022 USL Championship Final, won 3-1 by San Antonio. In three meetings all time, the team’s have split the series 1-1-1, with Louisville’s win coming on home turf in 2023. LouCity and San Antonio have not met since Oct. 29, 2024, a 1-1 tie in Texas.

Player of the Month candidate: Jansen Wilson is up for USL Championship Player of the Month. The Elizabethtown, Ky., native registered four goals and one assist across all competitions in July, helping LouCity advance to the knockout stage of the Prinx Tires USL Cup. He recorded a league-high 19 shots and contributing six chances created, while averaging a goal every 68.8 minutes.
Bagging a brace: Jake Morris scored twice in last week’s loss, both coming from outside the penalty area. It was his first brace in USL Championship play and second with LouCity — he memorably scored twice in the USL Cup in 2025 at Lexington SC.
Series scorer: Only one active player Louisville City player has scored in the LouCity-San Antonio matchup all time — only he wasn’t wearing purple at the time. Kevon Lambert found the back of the net against LouCity in 2024, while playing for San Antonio.
World Cup vet: San Antonio FC head coach Carlos Llamosa enjoyed a decorated playing career in Major League Soccer and with the U.S. Men’s National Team. A defender, he played with D.C. United, the defunct Miami Fusion, the New England Revolution and the defunct Chivas USA. With the national team, he earned 28 caps, including two appearances at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. The 57-year-old is in his second season as a head coach, after spending over a decade as an assistant.
Sticking around: LouCity’s current roster features six players who played the 2022 USL Championship Final at San Antonio: Danny Faundez, Sean Totsch, Amadou Dia, Manny Perez and Ray Serrano all started the game, while Carlos Moguel Jr. came off the bench. Additionally, LouCity’s captain that day was Paolo DelPiccolo, now an assistant. San Antonio’s roster features two players that featured in 2022, defender Mitchell Taintor and forward Santiago Patiño, who scored twice in the game.
Hello, again: San Antonio’s roster also includes defender Alexis Souahy, a former Louisville City defender. The 31-year-old has made three league appearances this season for San Antonio, most recently on June 13. He made 82 league appearances for LouCity from 2018 to 2021.
