Lynn Family Stadium will become home to another sort of professional football team in 2026 — this time, the American football variety.
Joining professional soccer clubs Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC is the United Football League’s Louisville Kings — one of three new UFL franchises that will take the field next year in the eight-team league.
Season ticket deposits can be made at www.theufl.com ahead of kickoff the weekend of Friday, March 27. Other information, such as a coach and schedule, will be unveiled later.
The United Football League is the professional spring football league. With the visionary backing of Mike Repole and Impact Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, FOX, Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson and ESPN, the United Football League delivers the most accessible and innovative professional football experience in the world for players and fans.
Other new franchises announced Tuesday include the Columbus Aviators, who will play at Historic Crew Stadium, and Orlando Storm, which will play at Inter&Co Stadium. The DC Defenders (Audi Field), Dallas Renegades (Toyota Stadium) and Houston Gamblers (Shell Energy Stadium) are also UFL teams that play in soccer-specific stadiums. All are, or were, home to Major League Soccer clubs except Lynn Family Stadium, further evidence of our home’s elite status.
“What better for our fútbol stadium than more football?” said John Neace, Soccer Holdings’ chairman and CEO. “We are excited to welcome the UFL to Louisville. As we said before, whatever your lot in life, build something on it. We’re building another exciting addition for our community as the Louisville Kings debut in the spring of 2026.”
“Today marks an important step forward for the United Football League,” added Mike Repole, co-owner of the United Football League who leads league business operations through his private equity firm, Impact Capital. “Columbus, Louisville, and Orlando are true football cities with deep sports roots. We’re proud to bring professional football to these communities – in energetic, fan-driven stadiums built to create an authentic game day experience and strengthen the foundation of this league for years to come.”
Provisions exist in Soccer Holdings’ agreement with the UFL to repair the Lynn Family Stadium pitch should it suffer damage from football games.
