Louisville City FC players will take part in a restaurant opening Wednesday in which 100 percent of proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, a charitable partner of the club.
Defender Sean Reynolds and goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski will sign autographs, hand out food and show off some soccer skills from 2-4 p.m. at the new Raising Cane’s in Middletown, located at 12009 Shelbyville Road.
Also look for LouCity’s purple merchandise truck outside the restaurant near Main Street and Eastern High School. A ticket representative will be on hand as well with customers eligible to enter to win seats to a 2017 LouCity game.
As with LouCity, which saw its players log more than 1,000 hours in the community this year, Raising Cane’s has a dedication to service. Before Wednesday’s opening, Middletown manager Kyle Nicolas and his crew members volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters for a day.
“We love Louisville, and it’s great to know that Louisville loves us back,” Nicholas said. “We’re excited to expand into Middletown, where we already have a strong base of Caniacs. We’ve become very involved in the local communities throughout Louisville since we first arrived in early 2013, and we’re looking forward to working with the schools and other organizations in and around Middletown.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters has for more than 100 years made meaningful connections between adult volunteers and kids ages 7-16, changing lives through personalized mentoring.
With its store opening Wednesday, Raising Cane’s will have five locations locally doling out its well-known chicken finger meals.
LouCity, meanwhile, just completed its second season with another run to the United Soccer League’s Eastern Conference final. The club went 17 straight games unbeaten at one point during 2016 and lost to just one team over the season’s final three months, the eventual champion New York Red Bulls II.
