LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville City FC, who will begin it’s second season in the United Soccer League in March, announced their second offseason signing on Wednesday. Mark-Anthony Kaye, a midfielder out of the Toronto FC Academy, will join Louisville City after the Club’s historic inaugural regular season and run to the Eastern Conference final.
Kaye, a Canadian citizen, is pending International Transfer Certificate (ITC) approval. Per club policy, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed
“I remember him from his time at Wilmington and he did very well,” Louisville City coach James O’Connor said. “He has a lot of potential and we just need to be a little patient with him and help develop his talent. He has good size and pace and is a threat going forward.”
Kaye was signed by Toronto FC’s USL affiliate last spring in his second stint within the TFC academy. The Ontario native appeared in 22 games and started 19 for Toronto FC II.
“I’m very happy to be given the opportunity to progress my professional career at a club that I believe is a good fit for the style of player I am, and that is clearly on the rise in North American soccer,” Kaye said. “I remember back to when I came to Louisville to play, and the atmosphere was great — so I’m truly excited and looking forward to playing in front of the fans this season.”

Kaye turned heads during his time at Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto when he was named team MVP during his junior and senior seasons. After graduating in 2012, Kaye played for York University. Thanks to his strong performances during the 2012-13 season, Kaye earned several accolades — including OUA Rookie of the Year, CIS second-team All-Canadian and OUA first-team all-star honors.
During the 2014 season, Kaye played nine games for the Toronto FC Senior Academy squad, before being sent out on loan to the Wilmington Hammerheads. He made his professional debut on Aug. 23, 2014, versus OC Blues. In the following match versus LA Galaxy II, Kaye scored his first goal and notched his first assist to help Wilmington to a 3-3 draw. In all, Kaye tallied three goals in 2014, two with the Hammerheads.
Kaye was also named to the Canadian U-23 Olympic team roster in 2015. The 21-year-old will begin his third season in USL when Louisville City FC kicks off it’s season in March of 2016.
