Currently in a four-way tie for the Prinx Tires USL Cup golden boot, Louisville City FC forward Jansen Wilson will get the starting nod from interim head coach Simon Bird in the team’s final group stage match of the competition against in-state rival Lexington SC.
The game is also part of the Commonwealth Cup, presented by Republic Bank, rivalry, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET at Lynn Family Stadium. The game will air locally on MyTV 58 and ESPN Louisville’s 680 AM and 105.7 FM. For streaming, log on to WDRB+ or ESPN+.
Through three matches in the USL Cup, Wilson has accumulated three goals including a brace on the road against Union Omaha. Wilson leads LouCity in scoring with eight goals across all competitions this season.
Wilson is the lone change made to Lousiville’s lineup from its last match, a regular season game with Hartford Athletic.
Mukwele Akale and Chris Donovan will join Wilson in the attack. Akale has made an impact this season against Lexington, having two of his three goal contributions come against the Greens. Donovan is the only man to have as many goal contributions as Wilson this year, being tied with the Elizabethtown, Ky., native with 10 across all competitions.
The midfield duo remains the same for coach Bird, with 2025 USL Championship Player of the Year Taylor Davila being paired with Jamaican international Kevon Lambert. Lambert returned last week from a lower body injury that sidelined him for three months of the season.
Jake Morris will start at left wingback, reminding Lexington of a nightmare from 2025. In last season’s matchup between these two in the USL Cup, Morris delivered a second half stoppage time brace to give LouCity all three points in Lexington. He’ll be paired with Sam Gleadle at the right wingback position, with the duo starting together in back-to-back matches.
The trio on the back line remains intact with captain Kyle Admas holding down the left, 17-year old Brandon Dayes in the middle, and USL Championship regular season appearance leader Sean Totsch manning the right.
Rounding out the XI is Danny Faundez in goal, who has earned clean sheets in his last two starts. One included a win in penalty kicks on the road in Detroit where Faundez made a crucial save in the shootout.
Nine players are available from the bench, headlined by Manny Perez who is available for the first time since May 30. Hugo Fauroux, Amadou Dia, Zach Duncan, Quenzi Huerman, Ray Serrano, Evan Davila, Tola Showunmi and Thomas Weinrich.
