Louisville City FC interim head coach Simon Bird has elected to make three changes to the starting lineup as the boys in purple head down to Alabama for tonight’s midweek match against Birmingham Legion FC.
Kickoff at Protective Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET. The game will locally on WBKI/The CW & ESPN Louisville’s 680 AM/105.7 FM. For streaming, log on to WDRB+ or the CBS Sports Golazo Network.
The first change for Bird’s squad comes in the midfield, where Senegalese loanee Babacar Niang will make his second regular season start of the year. Niang, on loan from Major League Soccer’s Minnesota United, will play alongside reigning USL Championship Player of the year Taylor Davila. Davila is currently tied for the league lead with four assists in the regular season.
The second changes in the squad comes up top, where Frenchman Quenzi Heurman will slot into the right wing. This will be Huerman’s first regular season start for LouCity since the opening match against Lexington on March 6th.
The third and final change comes at the right wingback position where Jansen Wilson will occupy. Wilson, who normally plays up front, currently stands at nine goals and assists in 16 matches played across all competitions. Last year, he achieved 13 goal and assists across 34 matches played. Opposite of him on the left will be Amadou Dia.
Wilson will be filling in for Aiden Mcfadden, who tonight will be moved to the back three, serving as the right centerback alongside captain Kyle Adams and Sean Totsch. Adams is one of two players for city to have started in all 11 regular season matches so far. The trio will be guarding Danny Faundez who will make his second straight start between the pipes.
Up front, Ray Serrano will fill the left-wing role. Serrano has been a force to be reckoned with on the attack, ranking third in the USL Championship for possession won in the final third per match (1.4). He’ll be joined by his center forward Chris Donovan, who led the boys in purple with five touches inside Tampa Bay’s box on Saturday.
Six players are available for selection from LouCity’s bench: Ryan Troutman, Zach Duncan, Tola Showunmi, Carlos Moguel, Evan Davila, and Mukwelle Akale.
