Louisville City FC will welcome international competition to Lynn Family Stadium for the second time when hosting Mexican club Atlante FC for a friendly kicking off at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15.
The LouCity-Atlante matchup will double as a showcase of authentic Hispanic culture and cuisine at Lynn Family Stadium with the Fan Zone opening a half hour early, at 6 p.m. Ticket start at just $12 and are available online by clicking below or in person at the following Supermercados Guanajuato locations: 6201 Preston Hwy., 9901 La Grange Rd., 5624 Bardstown Rd. and 8704 National Turnpike. Buyers can pay with cash at Guanajuato.
Ticket holders will also receive free entry to the 21-and-over official postgame after party at The Hub, 2235 Frankfort Ave.
Lynn Family Stadium will feature live entertainment and local food trucks in the lead up to kickoff between LouCity and Atlante. Ohio Valley Wrestling’s luchadores will perform on the mini pitch in the Fan Zone from 6-7:30 p.m. Folklórico dance group México Lindo will present in the seltzer garden on the stadium’s east side before local band Mas Flow plays a set from 7-8 p.m.
Food trucks on site include Gustavo’s, I Love Tacos, Las Gorditas, Las Platas and Tacos Feliz. A number of regular Lynn Family Stadium concession stands will serve traditional fare such as Buñuelos, a fried dough fritter, from regular funnel cake maker Moutoux’s, and empanadas from Caffe Classico in the grab-and-go concession area behind the Estopinal End.
Commemorative LouCity-Atlante margarita cups will also be served with cans of Cayman Jack while supplies last at various bars throughout the stadium.
“We’re excited both about the sporting challenge of facing Atlante and the opportunity to bring in a team that will be popular with our Hispanic community,” said LouCity’s club president, James O’Connor. “There will be something for everyone at this game, and we look forward to a unique atmosphere at Lynn Family Stadium.”
Atlante currently competes in the second-division Liga de Expansión MX, winning titles in 2021 and 2022. The Mexico City-based club’s origins date back to 1916, and Atlante factored internationally as recently as 2009 when earning a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Atlante to Lynn Family Stadium,” added LouCity coach Danny Cruz. “This is another opportunity for us to expose ourself to a new opponent and style of play. I firmly believe these games give us another opportunity to improve while having to solve problems on the field that we may not have seen before.
“I am excited that we were able to put this game together for our players and the city of Louisville.”
LouCity-Atlante will air locally on MyTV 58 and ESPN Louisville’s 680/105.7. TV with national streaming coverage on ESPN+.
